Shirt: c/o 7FAM; Skirt: Express; Shoes: Zara, old; Bag: Rebecca Minkoff; Watch: Michael Kors; Earrings: Gorjana; Ring: Gorjana; Knotty Pinky Ring: All the Wire; Bib Necklace: Bauble Bar; Monogram Necklace: Bauble Bar; You’re My Person Necklace: All the Wire; Double Bar Cuff: Gorjana; Monogram Cuff: c/o Accessory Concierge; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Lips: MAC Ruby Woo

Fashion has this incredible ability to immediately put you in a mood…or in some cases, snap you out of one (retail therapy, anyone?!).

The second I laid eyes on this skirt, I wanted it…I needed it…I bought it. But not because its super flattering (which it kindof isn’t…and I am fine with that), or because it was super practical…but because it made me happy.  It made me want to twirl.  It made me feel girly and flouncy.  IT MADE ME FEEL GOOD.

And when it boils down to it, isn’t that one of the emotional purposes of getting dressed everyday? Isn’t it the best feeling ever when an outfit can put a smile on your face?!  Not everyone will like how this skirt makes my hips appear fuller. Some of you might say that this skirt isn’t the best choice for my body.

But you know what?!

I LIKE IT. I LIKE THE REFLECTION OF IT IN THE MIRROR. AND FOR ME, THE HAPPINESS IT BRINGS ME IS ENOUGH.

Is there an article of clothing in your closet that always puts a smile on your face no matter what?

xo,

Hannah - I don’t know what you are talking about—I think this skirt looks great on you! It doesn’t make your hips look bigger, it accentuates how small your waist is! So keep on rocking this gorgeous skirt and know you look FAB!ReplyCancel

Kgirl - This skirt is great — it doesn’t make your hips look big at all! Body conscious clothing isn’t the only way to go to look sexy or alluring. I like the pairing with the chambray shirt.ReplyCancel

Sarah - I felt the same way about this skirt from Express with the see through panel: http://www.express.com/clothing/high+waist+pleated+skirt/pro/7736170/cat2011
I mean I fell in LOVE with it on the hanger but it was sooo unflattering on me. But I literally almost bought it just because the idea of it makes me so happy! I feel ya girl but I think the skirt looks great on you!

ae - Not flattering? It’s absolutely flattering! You don’t need to wear tight clothes to be cute. I think something like this is so girly and says a lot about your confidence- that you don’t need to flaunt everything for attention. Don’t love the shoes but love everything else!ReplyCancel
