Summer as we know it is officially behind us…and it’s sad, really.  And while all those memories of pool parties, weekends at the lake, and backyard BBQ’s are filed away into a scrapbook, what am I suppose to do with all my summer clothes?!

Although I really love the change of seasons, the one thing that makes the transition difficult is parting ways with some favorite pieces, and knowing that you must retire them for another 6 months.  But this year, instead of obliging to those traditional rules, I looked into closet and found a couple items that I can continue to wear, and my pocketbook certainly thanked me too because I made several new outfits without even having to go shopping!

How can you do this in your own closet?  Its easy! Follow these simple 4 steps:

  • Find one of your favorite summer dresses in a neutral color (I chose this white ruffle dress.)
  • Now layer a fall blazer over the dress (This J.Crew Schoolboy blazer is my go-to-favorite.)
  • Throw on an easy, comfortable ankle boot (Shoemint has some killer options!)
  • Add a summer scarf in a bright color and some loud accessories

So, is it just me, or is anyone else trying to figure out how to get more wear out of some of your favorite summer items? Share with me your tips for transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall!
