Unless you have been living under a rock, there’s no doubt you already have your calendar set for September 15, which marks the launch date of the highly anticipated collaboration between 2 of my favorite brands: Phillip Lim & Target.
My love for Target is pretty much like everyone else’s: I go in needing 1 thing and leave with a shopping cart filled with decorative pillows, a swimsuit or 2, a chevron printed toaster, (yes, that really happened) and a whopping grand total of around $500 or so. And my love for Phillip Lim isn’t far behind: There was this bag, and now there is this bag…what’s the saying, “It was so nice, I bought it twice?!” And so when I was approached to be a part of the Phillip Lim x Target Stylescape project, it only confirmed my continued obsession with both brands…
Stylescape went across the country, from LA to Dallas to Chicago to Miami to Toronto to NYC, and photographed tastemakers and style setters in each city. They then took all those images and merged them together into a huge panoramic digital wall, which followed in a cross country journey from day to night, west coast to east coast, all while featuring the collection. And that bus stop in Dallas? Yep, that’s where you could find yours truly, doing what I do best: Live tweeting! So throughout the evening, any live tweet that came through with the hashtag #stylescape, would show up on this sign and my image would digitally be prompted to move…pretty cool, right?!
And if walking this HUGE wall and playing with all its interactive features wasn’t enough for partygoers, then they had a couple of other options: Shop the collaboration 10 days before it hits stores or rub elbows with some of the celebs that were in the house (Solange Knowles and Jessica Alba, anyone?!)
So Target, what can I say? You continue to know the way to my heart: You’ve fed my fashionable belly with your kickass partnerships. You took my picture, put it on a wall in NYC, and let me live tweet on your behalf. And for many, many more years to come, you will continue to drain my bank account.
Thank you, Target.
