Fine, I’ll accept it: All good things must come to an end.
I am back in Dallas….and still haven’t unpacked….and am still trying to catch up on my normal life after being in the “la-la-land” that is NYFW. I stumbled upon some pictures of my looks from the last day I was on the city and I thought I would share: One from the Cynthia Rowley presentation and the other from the red carpet at the Fashion Rocks Event.
Until February 2015, NYFW….I will think of you fondly.

I don’t want to shatter any dreams and expectations that y’all might have about New York Fashion Week, but it’s not all about fashion for me.
One of my favorite moments of NYFW the past 2 season has been sitting down with a woman who I admire greatly, Lottie Oakley, in the American Express Skybox and talking about my journey into the fashion industry. It is an experience where I get to share my sentiments about the industry, hard work ethics, PLUS pick her brain about her seasoned experience as a major player in fashion. Learning from someone like Lottie has been such a blessing…and learning and growing in this industry is something I will always continue to do.
Speaking of learning (and teaching)….I love being able to share new fashion finds with you, my readers, every single day. I love learning about new designers and hidden treasures…and I get so excited to pass it on to y’all! So, with that said….let’s talk about the shoes I have on!
Sorry there isn’t a great close up photo of them….but let me just say, if you have loved these animal print Valentinos, but don’t love the price tag (UGH $1395?!), then I’m here to save the day: I scooped up these IDENTICAL ones at one of my favorite boutiques in Dallas, Rio Ritz….AND you can shop them online as well….and celebrate the $50 price tag!
Go ahead, treat yourself….hell, it’s Friday! TGIF!

There’s something to be said for the simple things in life…those consistent things that you can always depend on: Chipotle, red wine, your mom, Lifetime TV, spray tans, blowouts, OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark nail polish…the list goes on and on.
But when it comes to throwing on an outfit and rushing out the door, what’s your consistent go-to-look? Mine has varied over the years, but recently I have found that I continue to reach for a perfect pair of fitting denim, another layer of denim up top, a chic pair of shoes (heels or flats, depending on the activity of the day), a statement clutch, and piles of gold jewelry.
I brought this look with me to NYC, and thank goodness, it has saved me on more than one occasion while dashing through the city running amidst errands.
What’s your go to look of the moment?

Welp, its here….my version of March Madness: New York Fashion Week….And, per usual, BCBG kicked off the week with a bang. BCBG Max Azria is always the first show of the week, and with their collections never disappointing the fashionable crowd, they set the bar very high for every other designer to follow.
This is a week that I look forward to, twice a year, every year…and its wild to think this is my fourth year attending NYFW. It reminds me how lucky I am to work in an industry that is inspiring, creative, and full of talented collegaues.
And in true Carrie Bradshaw fashion, this “Sex & the City” quote sums it all up:
“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward for the future. This is known as FASHION WEEK.”

I have officially landed in NYC for fashion week, and despite being excited to finally bust out my fall clothes, I am still hanging on to the last moments of summer.
This past weekend, I had the pleasure to be wined & dined by the incredible Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas….and I must say, it was the trip of a lifetime. Aside from the beach and the cocktails, I was excited to give my summer dresses, like this green one from SheInside, one last spin around the block before stowing them away and pulling out the fall frocks. This dress was perfect for frolicking on the HGTV Paradise Lawn, swinging in the hammocks, and sipping Bahama Mama’s with my girlfriend, Lisa.
Goodbye summer…thanks for the memories…and the tan.

For the past 3 days, I have been nestled up with one of my gal pals at Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. Aside from soaking up the sun, the white sand beach, and the delicious cocktails, of course, we have been here enjoying the first annual Atlantis HGTV Paradise Music Festival, which has included acts such as Dierks Bentley, Jewel, Kristian Bush of Sugarland, and Rascal Flatts.
It’s been a weekend to remember….and it is certainly a destination location that everyone should put on their bucket list ASAP.
What have y’all been up to this Labor Day Weekend?!

Summer is coming to an end, which sadly, means that summer vacations are wrapping up, as well. Since May, I’ve had a pretty good run….Cabo, Austin (twice), Vegas, Hawaii (via Disney….I mean, did the Mickey picture above give it away?!), and plenty of sexy Dallas “staycations.”
But there is one upcoming vacation that I am looking forward to, and not because it happens to be at a bucket list location, but because it’s a vacation that I get to invite all of you on with me!
This coming Friday, I am heading to the Atlantis Resort in Bahamas for Labor Day weekend to with one of my best gal pals to enjoy HGTV’s first annual “Paradise Music Fesitival” which will feature acts like Jewel and Rascal Flatts, to name a few! Aside from the great music, I cannot wait to experience all fun activities Atlantis has to offer…like all the pools, slides, casinos, spa treatments, shopping, eating, and drinking…will 4 days be enough to fit it all in?!
If you don’t have any Labor Day plans yet, I would LOVE to invite you to bring a gal pal, grab your passport, pack your swimsuit, and join me in Nassau this weekend! Follow THIS LINK to get a $150 resort credit and book your last minute vacation NOW!

There is one fashion phrase that drives me crazier than any other because I feel like it’s way too overused:
“You can dress it up, or dress it down.”
Don’t get me wrong, this phrase applies to a lot of the items in my closet and explains the versatility of a piece, it’s just one of those sayings that when used by a sales person, it isn’t going to be the golden comment that rushes me out of the dressing room and up to the cash register.
But when referencing these high rise, faux leather trimmed jeans from Express, there’s one thought that flashes in my mind: “OMG, I can totally dress those up or down! They are day to night perfection!”
While the weather is still warm, I plan on wearing them with white tees, basic tanks, and lightweight, printed, silk tops. But once the temperatures fall, its gonna be all about the blazers and the cozy, oversized sweaters that I will pair these jeans with. And, of course, I am all about anything leather, so this faux trim is right up my alley, plus it gives the denim a little “ooh-la-la” factor. And let’s not forget the price tag….wait for it….$39.90.
*Thank you to Express for partnering with me for this post.

One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to meet fellow tastemakers who have really inspired me. About 6 months ago, a legendary meeting with my female icon, Sarah Jessica Parker, happened…and boy, oh boy, was I on cloud nine!
But its fun to also meet male style setters, like George Kotsiopoulos…the fellas always seem to have a different perspective on fashion, and considering he’s known for his colorful commentary on E!’s Fashion Police, I knew this interview would be another one for the books!
If you could interview one of your favorite fashion style experts, who would it be?!

3 years have gone by oh, so, quickly. This past week, “What Courtney Wore” celebrated its 3rd birthday and, boy, oh boy, has it been a wild 3 years or what?!
Thank you to YOU, the readers, the supporters, the fans, for allowing me to feel comfortable sharing my life (and my outfits, duh!) with you. You make what I do not feel like work…you make it worth it!
Here’s to many more outfits to come!
