People always ask if I would ever leave Dallas…

…and I can confidently say that RIGHT NOW, the answer would be no…but never say never.

One thing that keeps me in Dallas is the weather.  Yes, it is unpredictable at times, and summer is hotter than hell, but for the most part, its perfectly filled with 4 seasons.

But right now, ITS WAY TOO COLD for my liking. Highs this week are topping out in the low 30’s and I think I saw 19 degrees as a low later this week.  Cold weather is something that, although I enjoy dressing for, I don’t enjoy the overall experience. But thankfully, I’ve stocked my closet with some good coats over the years….and this one from Nasty Gal (which is on sale, btw!) is one of my current rotating favorites!

So, I know I sound like a big cold baby, but tell me….What are your cold weather tricks for staying beautifully bundled?!

All You Need is Love (And a Beach!)

Dress: Haute Hippie; Hat: J.Crew; Necklace: Lana; Bangles: c/o Ashley Pittman; Watch: Michele; Earrings: Gorjana; Nails: Orly Kiss the Bride

As we drift out of 2014 and into 2015, many of us are left thinking about what we are choosing to leave behind and looking to what’s lying ahead.

For 2015, my list is quite short and to the point: LOVE.

Show love.  Give love.  Chose love.  Feel love.  Make love.

Happy New Year to you all….thank you all for continuing to make every one of my years’ better than the one before….I love you all!

What is your new years’ resolution?

Sunset Dinner

Dress: Clover Canyon; Shoes: Forever 21, old; Handbag: Rebecca Minkoff; Earrings: Kendra Scott; Necklace: Lana; Watch: Michele; Hermes Cuff; Ring: Kendra Scott, old; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Nails: Orly Kiss the Bride

One place I love to be is next to a beach….if given the chance, I’d take sand over snow any day!  This Christmas, I surprised my mother with a last minute to trip to Cabo.  It was a great time for us to recharge, reenergize, sleep, and relax!

And, thankfully, traveling with my mother is a breeze….we both enjoy the same things, we both love to zone out during vacation, and we both love spending time together!

Where are you traveling to this holiday?

Flat Out Fancy

Fur Vest: Tahari, old (Last seen HERE); Top: Zara; Pants: J.Crew; Shoes: c/o Sole Society (AND 50% OFF!); Hat: c/o Sole Society; Bag: Clare V; Watch: Michele; Earrings: Bauble Bar; Nails: OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest

I’ve always had this notion that the words “flats” and “fancy” could never be used in the same sentence.  Most of the flats I own are either tennis shoes, sandals, or easy shoes that I would run errands in….”fancy flats” are hard to find…until now.

I stumbled upon these checkered ladies by Sole Society and immediately fell in love.  They have a cool menswear vibe that makes them feel dressy….and the outfit rolodex in my head of what I could wear them with began to churn….and with the cold weather in full effect, pairing them with my chic Sole Society fedora and a fabulous fur vest was the winning combination!

Tell me about your favorite pair of flats and how you like to make them feel “fancy!”

After a joyful and merry Christmas Day, it’s nice to get back to the basics…

…AKA all black from head toe.

I’m holiday’ed out…I need a rest from red, and plaid, and jolly attire.

But I’ll keep the red lip…because well, duh.

IT IS OFFICIALLY CHRISTMAS CRUNCH TIME!  The aggressive holiday shoppers have come out to play and they seriously aren’t messing around!

I tried my luck this past weekend at all the shopping madness, and let’s just say how glad I was that I was dressed comfy! Granted, yes, I still felt stylish and warm, but nonetheless, chic. Between my easy beanie (ummm, hello day 3 of the holiday party blowout!) and easy tassel flats from Sole Society, there wasn’t one part of me that wasn’t uncomfortable.  And can we discuss the statement making red + leopard?! Hello, no brainer!

What’s your go-to look for quick, comfortable, and easy holiday shopping?!

Holiday Entertaining with My Best Hair Ever

Robe: Victoria’s Secret; Watch: Michele; Bow Sweater: Alice & Olivia; Pants: Alice & Olivia; Shoes: Stuart Weitzman; Necklace: Lana; Watch: Michele; Screw Cuff: Henri Bendel; Layered Cuff: Gorjana; Ring: Gorjana; Earrings: Gorjana; Lips: MAC Ruby Woo; Nails: OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest; Hair Products: Pantene Expert Collection

It seems like all I have been doing this past month is preparing for yet another holiday party…which can be exhausting, but it’s always fun to reunite with different groups of friends to celebrate Christmas! I love hosting friends (old & new!) and entertaining in my home, but one thing that always makes me nervous about all the Christmas parties (aside from making sure my home is spotless, perfectly polished, and decorated to the nines!) is ensuring that my hair looks healthy and full of life…and luckily, thanks to the Pantene Expert Collection, I have finally achieved my BEST HAIR EVER!

I knew that during this busy time I wouldn’t be having tons of extra time, or money, to go to the salon for conditioning treatments, so I have been turning to Pantene’s Advanced Keratin Repair Collection, which can repair 2 years of damage in just 2 minutes!  All those years of hair dyeing, teasing, and heat have taken a toll on my blonde locks, but this collection fights the facets of damaged hair, treats dryness and dullness, pampers split ends, and fights frizz! And these days, when it comes to my hair, I am trying this whole “less is more” thing with my messy, textured, curly bob….so the less time it takes to repair my hair, the better! My favorite products from the Keratin Repair Collection include their shampoo + conditioner, 60 Second Therapy Ampoules, and Keragloss Oil Mist….all which work so much better when used together!

Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor from “90210,” OMG.) is also another gal who is a huge fan of Pantene’s Expert Collection.  She recently talked about her upcoming holiday reunions, and run-ins too (read the article here)….and how Pantene has played such a large role in ensuring that she also gets her BEST HAIR EVER!

So with the holidays in full swing, and all the parties and reunions happening, how do you get your BEST HAIR EVER? Share your secrets in the comments!

Holiday Red with Express

Sweater: c/o Express; Jeans: c/o Express; Heels: Valentino, old; Scarf: c/o Express; Beanie: ASOS; Watch: Michele; Hermes Cuff; Screw You Bangle: Henri Bendel; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Nails: OPI Every Month is Oktoberfest; Lips: MAC Ruby Woo

One thing that I love about the holiday season is seeing women spruce up their outfits with a pop of red.  Maybe it’s because the Christmas spirit is in the air, or because it’s the color of the season, but women who typically don’t feel brave enough to wear this power color…and it certainly turns heads.

But my approach to wearing holiday red starts by pairing it with the most perfect basics from Express: a comfy oversized sweater cardigan and a slouchy pair of destroyed jeans. (And for the record, these 2 pieces belong in every winter wardrobe!) I knew I wanted my red plaid & houndstooth scarf to really POP, so the neutral sweater was a simple backdrop, and the jeans, well, the fit on these bad boys really speak for themselves, don’t they? (Jeans shopping tip: These are a mid rise skinny fit….I wanted them to look broken in and have some give, so I sized up 2 sizes in them. Personally, a destroyed denim that is tight to your leg makes it appear that you actually ripped them because they are too small, lol!) And top the whole look, with your favorite red shoe and red lip…TADA!

And FYI, these jeans are on sale for 50% OFF….so either tell Santa or just treat yourself :)

How do you like to show the holiday spirit in your wardrobe?

Punk Princess

Dress: BCBG; Jacket: Topshop x Nordstrom, old (Similar here & here); Boots: Dolce Vita, old (Similar here & here); Earrings: Bauble Bar x Nordstrom; Pinky Ring: Gorjana; Watch: Michele; Lips: MAC Creme Cup

If you have been following me along for the past couple of years, then you probably know by now that my birthday is exactly one week before Christmas….

…and I despise it.

Granted, I can’t be angry that my parents decided to have one magical moment exactly 9 months before Santa arrives.  I don’t blame them for my December birthday being overlooked….instead, I blame all the people who overlook it but giving me a joint gift! So in my attempt at birthday/christmas retaliation, I become the most obnoxious birthday brat…and that brattiness all begins with selecting the most perfect birthday outfit!

I always want that look to appear effortless…you know the look, the “Oh this? Oh I just threw this dress on, and happened to grab the jacket on the way out the door, and and I could’ve worn sky high heels, but these over the knee boots are just super cool girl.” (Umm, yeah, it’s not actually that simple, believe it or not!)

My dress shopping started at Nordstrom, and after trying on every party dress they had, I chose this one….perfecting the rocker girl/birthday princess look from head to toe. The tutu effect definitely adds to the “birthday princess” concept, without me having to wear a crown to remind everyone that its MY NIGHT!

Do you treat your birthday dress shopping as seriously as I do?!

Bow Tied

Dress: kate spade; Heels: SJP; Earrings: Gorjana; Watch: Michele; Lips: MAC Ruby Woo; Stackable Rings: Gorjana; Pinky Ring: Gorjana

Every December, the same thing happens. I know it is coming.  I know I should prepare for it.  I know I am better than to procrastinate for this momentous occasion: It’s holiday dress shopping.

And here’s the deal for me: No matter what sparkly holiday dress I end up purchasing each year, somehow I still feel like I resemble a glittery member of Santa’s Workshop.

But after several years of learning my holiday dress shopping hard knocks lessons, I have decided to take a different approach this year: Instead of indulging in a typical holiday dress that I will most likely never wear again, I decided to make an investment in a dress, like this kate spade one, that I can can much more mileage out of! And of course, there is nowhere like Nordstrom that has such a variety of versatile dress options! And of course, Nordstrom makes their online dress shop absolutely foolproof: Shop New Years’ Eve. Shop Cocktail. Shop Under $150. Shop Night Out. Shop Fit & Flare. Shop Little Black Dresses. No matter your preference, it’s all there!

What’s your approach to holiday dress shopping?!
