I’m sure by now you all have had the chance to shop the “Courtney Loves Gorjana” Collection, right?! Well, if you haven’t….WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! And if you have, what do you think and what pieces have you bought?!
When it came to naming this very special design collection, I wanted to pair each piece with its inspiration….with the person or thing that it reminded me of. Every single item holds a special meaning to me, and when I wear it, I smile with pride.
If you could share your inspiration with the world and name a piece after someone, who would it be and why?

After much anticipation and hard work, the wait is finally over. The “Courtney Loves Gorjana” Capsule Collection has officially arrived and I could not be more proud….allow me elaborate…
This collection wasn’t just a selection of my favorite pieces from their site. This collection was a design effort of both myself & Gorjana, both of us pulling from several sources of inspiration. And from that inspiration, we have co-designed 21 pieces that not only speak to the jewelry that I would want to wear everyday (and sleep in to!), but that also continues with the theme of Gorjana’s beautiful design aesthetic that she is so widely known for.
Enough of my rambling! Take a look at the video below to learn more about our collaboration (and our quick, fabulous friendship!) PLUS shop the entire collection HERE! I hope you all enjoy!

Ever heard the saying, “I thought it was so nice, I bought it twice?”
Well, that was certainly the case when it came to this dress.
It all started on my birthday this year when I wore the white version…you might remember it from this blog post. It was one of those dresses that was effortless…it made me feel sexy and confident and all those things any woman should deserve to feel when she’s having a night out on the town.
Fast forward 4 months: I receive an invitation to Amber and Baxter’s black tie wedding in Cabo….I knew this would be an event for the books: glamourous, fashion forward people, an amazing location, gorgeous decor, tasty food, one too many cocktails, and dancing….THERE WOULD BE LOTS OF DANCING! So I began my search for something that would not only be super chic but that would also be comfy. I stumbled upon the black, floor length version of my birthday dress, and TA-DA! Search was complete.
Oh, how I wish hunting for most special occasion dresses was that easy every time!

When it comes to being a Texan, I have heard almost every stereotype in the book.
But there is one that is always wrong: WE DO NOT ALL KNOW HOW TO RIDE HORSES.
Yes, I was raised participating in the annual Kerr family tradition of going to the rodeo. Yes, I own a pair of cowboy boots. Yes, I have been around horses before. And, yes, during my childhood I witnessed a family member get bucked off a wild horse once.
But technically, no, I do not know how to ride a horse. They actually make me quite scared, and when I heard we were going to be riding during our trip in Cabo, I began to panic. But I tried to think of the pros instead of the cons: “Think of how the great pictures will be that I will get…think of how unique of an experience this is….think of all the other people that have done this before and survived….be brave, Courtney!”
Yep, I freaked out a couple times. Yes, I had some moments of severe anxiety. And yes, the experience of riding a horse along the beach at sunset was absolutely incredible….and a moment that I will never forget.
And now I can check that off the bucket list….onto the next adventure!

When traveling, I LOVE stumbling upon artsy-fartsy areas of town that are filled with food, culture, art, and of course, wine. I hate feeling like a tourist when I visit a new city, so I am always researching areas and asking locals where I should go, eat, shop, etc.
One of my favorite moments in Cabo this week was going into San Jose del Cabo one night during “ArtWalk,” a street festival that happens there every Thursday. Local artists emerge and share their original work at all the galleries and along the streets, while street vendors are selling homemade crafts and food…but the best part is that you can browse it all and walk the street with a cocktail in hand! Sounds like a perfect night, doesn’t it?! Definitely an event that you don’t want to miss if you are ever there on vacation!

My favorite part of traveling is finding unique items along the way to take back home. Its fun to infuse these pieces into my daily life when I return to Dallas and be able to tell a story about them and remember exactly that specific moment during vacation when I purchased them.
So far during my time in Cabo, I have picked up 2 gorgeous Mexican embroidered pieces: the top I am wearing above and a beautiful, colorful dining table runner for when I host some Mexican inspired fiestas at home! These embroidered pieces always remind me of my mother: When I was young she would wear this floor length Mexican embroidered dress around the house…I think my grandmother might have picked it up for her during her travels to Acapulco….and I always loved the detail work and the colors, and now it is special for me to own some of these memorable pieces myself.
Any items you have picked up during your travels that really mean a lot to you?

One word that will never be used to describe me is “athletic.”
In 7th grade, my mother encouraged me to try out for the volleyball team….and somehow, by the grace of God, I made the team and was actually chosen to be a starter for the first match of the season (my coach said she thought I would have natural talent because I was a cheerleader, but I think she just liked that I was tall and could intimidate the other team). I was decked out in my whole uniform and ready to roll: First serve comes over the net, and, like a full on wuss, I catch the ball….think: similar to a punt return in football….I don’t know what came over me…perhaps I was scared that the ball would hit my face and ruin my orthodontic work, or maybe I just panicked.
I never played another day of volleyball.
Fast forward to the present and an opportunity to paddle board in Cabo: I was slightly nervous to test out my defunct athleticism, but surprisingly, I was fairly good! Maybe all that pilates and yoga has given me good form and balance?! Either way, it was nice to save myself the embarrassment of falling off of a surfboard in front of 5 bloggers who are loaded with cameras

If you’ve been following along on Instagram, then you’ve seen by now that I was asked to join rewardStyle in their annual Top 5 Cabo Trip! I am so excited to be here for the next 6 days alongside bloggers that I have a tremendous amount of respect for such as Wendy, Julia, Aimee, and Rachel! This morning, we spent a couple hours at Flora Farms, where we indulged in a delicious farm-to-table spread!
As the week continues, I will be certain to keep y’all updated with all my looks and adventures! Now, off to paddle boarding!

First impressions can either make you or break you, and rarely does one recover from a poor snap judgment that’s made during a first impression.
Take these overalls for example…
Farmer? Railroad conductor? Basically anything the opposite of chic.
Last fall, I saw that overalls were appearing everywhere I looked. I suffered a small lapse of FOMO (fear of missing out) and figured I might as well give the trend for a test run, so I bought a pair for myself from Nasty Gal….and it was both a moment of bravery and courage…until they came in the mail and were so wrong on my particular body type. #OverallFail
And then again as Spring began approaching, I continues to keep seeing overalls everywhere I looked. I bit the bullet again and made a purchase. But this time, I wasn’t doing it because I felt a need to have them….I was buying them because I wanted to prove to myself that I could “Courtney-fy” them and give them my own little original spin PLUS my ooh-la-la factor. So what did I do?
- Throw on a boyfriend blazer: check.
- Throw on the Courtney Bib from Bauble Bar: check.
- Heels, duh.
- And voila….#CourtneyLovesOveralls
But what did this lesson teach me? When it comes to making first impressions, yes, you might only get once chance….but that once chance only matters if it’s original.

When asked to describe myself, there are a handful of adjectives that quickly come to mind…
Over the Top, yes.
Cool would be how I would describe the effortless gals in Austin, TX (which I why I could never live there). Cool is the description of the people who throw outfits on and manage to ward off any suspicions that they laid out their clothes the nights before in a planning moment. Cool is something I will never be. I am an over thinker, a planner, a preparation needer, and in some capacities, pretty dorky when it comes to my silly idiosyncricies.
When Gorjana and I met for one of our design meetings about our upcoming collaboration, we tossed around the idea of these cool rings that attach to bracelets and have chains draping across the wrist. I immediately shut her down and said…”No, no, no….I am totally not cool enough to pull that off….despite how much I love the look of them.” Gorjana asked me, “Well, what elements could it have for you to wear it?” And the list went something like this:
- Needs to have function ability…meaning, there is no way in hell that I can fasten a bracelet with one hand while strings of metal are draped across my wrist. I can barely fasten a necklace with 2 hands. Needs to be easy to take on an off (Practical Courtney talking.)
- Needs to be dainty and understated…it can’t come off as if you are trying to hard to be cool (even though you are totally trying to be cool)
- Needs to be a piece that girls like me, who are ‘fairly’ normal, would throw on with any outfit…from daytime to nighttime and everything in between.
And when this sample (pictured above) came in the mail of the final product….I knew Gorjana understood every word I had said.
Thank you Gorjana, for finally making me feel “cool” when I slip this piece on.
