As women, we wear multiple hats on any given day. In a 16-hour day beginning at 730am and lasting until 1130pm, I can go from television host, to radio host, to blogger, to friend, to daughter, to entrepreneur, to boss, to dog walker, to girlfriend….and generally, all of these roles happen in one outfit…which makes “the night before outfit planning session” even all the more important.
When standing in front of my closet and figuring out what I will wear the next morning, there are so many elements that go into planning. But one question that goes into my 16-hour outfit is always, “How can this outfit transition from day to night?” And once I answer that question, I know I have officially chosen the perfect look.
“You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream!”
As the weather warms up, there is nothing more perfect than an afternoon walk in the park. And an all white look, paired with a neutral bootie, like the Nine West Bessy, is a great way to beat the heat!
One of my favorite outdoor spots in Dallas is Klyde Warren Park. On any given day, 5-10 food trucks line the streets and serve up anything from pizza, to gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, to my personal summer favorite…ICE CREAM! And of course, waiting in line at the “What’s Da Scoop” ice cream truck reminds me of my childhood summers at the neighborhood swimming pool having my daily ice cream sandwich or orange dreamsicle! Won knew an ice cream cone these days could still be so chic?!?
So, my curiosity must ask: What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?!

“What are your plans for the summer?!” It’s definitely a question that we all have heard all too often, right?! But I get so excited about answering this question…not because I have some extraordinary vacation to boast about, but because I love sharing my favorite summer activities in my fair city of Dallas. And this summer I have partnered with one of my favorite shoe brands, Nine West, as I frolic across my city! Over the next couple of days I will be sharing my summer plans, which of course include my favorite Nine West shoes, and kick off with my four legged gal pal, Fancy!
This summer is a little more special to me because it will mark the one year anniversary of adopting my new best friend, Fancy, a 4 year old rescue pit bull. And without a doubt, we will be spending a lot of our summer days walking back and forth from Mutts, our favorite restaurant & bar that overlooks a dog park! But one thing I have learned over the past year with Fancy is that she isn’t the best on a leash, so walking her in flats, like the Nine West Gladis gladiator sandal, is always a better idea than trying to attempt it in heels! And not only is the gladiator sandalone of my favorite summer shoe trends, but it’s also perfectly practical for chasing my four legged gal through the grass…while still feeling ultimately chic!
So, of course, I must ask…What are y’alls plans for the summer?

SCROLL THROUGH TO SEE MY FAVORITE PRINTED SOLE SOCIETY SHOES:
Mixing prints is a concept I am no stranger to….in all actuality, its become a game I like to play with myself: How far can I push the envelope with 2 prints and how extreme can I get without looking like a fool….that’s the game!
And a lot of y’all have reached out to me asking to share tips on how you can also mix prints in your closet….and to be honest, there isn’t a strict rhyme or reason, here is a general outline regarding my through process:
Start with 2 coordinating prints (think same color scheme)
Chose one big print and one small print, or
Chose prints that are opposites (think stripes and flowers or leopard and camo)
But printed shoes, like the Sole Society ones I am wearing, allow for a lot of versatility because you can ultimately treat them like a neutral and pair them with tons of different options (the same way you would treat a printed bag!). And when it comes to experimenting with printed shoes, it sure it a lot easier to justify an experiment when the price tag only reads $69.95, right?!
Do you have any tips when it comes to print mixing?

SCROLL THROUGH TO SEE MY FAVORITE SOLE SOCETY NEW ARRIVALS:
Style is all about mixing & matching, right?
We mix black & white.
We mix high & low.
We mix prints with more prints.
We mix solids with stripes.
But one of my favorite ways to mix & match is by combining unexpected styles from the opposite sides of the fashion map: uber girly with uber edgy.
Nothing screams edgy to me like chains, buckles, neutrals, & snakesin…..insert: These Sole Society shoes. And yes, it could have been easy to mix these babies with boyfriend jeans and a basic white tee…but that’s no fun, now is it?
Instead why not pair them with an off the shoulder, light pink, lace number and load up with a heavy chain necklace?! That’s waaaaaaaaaaaaay more playful, right?!
Plus….when the shoes only cost $70 bucks, it sure does make justifying them even more sweet, now doesn’t it?!
What are you mixing & matching lately?

Another hot Texas summer has officially kicked off, and boy, oh boy, is it hot as ever in Dallas…and I assume this is just the beginning.
And if you are anything like me, then you recognize that the only way to beat the heat is to escape it…so I have darted out of town…and plan on being in a bathing suit with a margarita in hand the majority of the weekend.
What are y’alls weekend plans and where do you escape to during the summertime?
If you were to browse through my closet, you would find about 80% solid colors. Reason? Well, because when it comes to mixing and matching, they are easiest to do it with. Solids never go out of style and solids always look chic, regardless of what styles happen to be trendy at the moment.
So when it comes to purchasing prints, they have to hit 1 of 2 marks for me:
They have to be inexpensive…read: under $75.
They have to be a timeless shape…read: A-line, body-con, or something that makes me feel comfortable and like the reflection I see.
This H&M dress? Well, its 2 for 2. And getting a major compliment from the fella also? Well, that’s enough in itself.
There’s something about Sundays that can set the tone for your whole week that is ahead.
Sundays are the day, for me at least, to get my mind right mentally, and spiritually, and emotionally. A perfect Sunday for me includes: a good talking to with The Man Above, time spent with friends over lunch, piddling around the house finishing up laundry or cleaning, a long walk through Whole Foods, an hour nap, and all topped off with a couple hours or so of work planning and making to-do lists for the upcoming week.
You might go, “Well that sounds like a really busy Sunday?!”…and yes, it is, but I have learned that “lazy Sundays” don’t blend well with me…I need to prepare and be alert…perhaps its the “Type A” qualities in me coming out?!
