NYFW: Nemo Can’t Stop Me

Photos taken by Lydia Hudgens

Blazer: Ann Taylor, old; Club Monaco, old (Similar); White Blouse: Equipment; Shorts: H&M, old (Similar); Tights: c/o Hanes Hosiery; Booties: Zara, old (Similar); Fedora: Zara (Similar); Bag: Zara, old (Similar); Watch: Michael Kors; Chain Link Pave Bracelet: c/o Bauble Bar; Lips: Nars “Dragon Girl”

So I am back in Dallas (where its 61 degrees today!), and everyone keeps asking me how I managed to survive Snowstorm Nemo.  Well, here’s my quick, politically correct answer:

“I am a warm-blooded, Texas girl who despises cold weather.  The only fun part about cold weather is getting dressed for it.  Luckily, that’s what fashion week is entirely all about…what you put on your body. So, Nemo? Yeah, I wasn’t really phased.”

But because I can be totally candid with y’all, here’s the real, honest truth: I HATED THE WEATHER…AND IT WAS COLD…AND IT WAS SNOWING…And after 3 days of attempting to get fashionably dressed for that nonsense, I threw up my hands inside my room at the Empire Hotel and shouted, “SCREW IT! I am wearing these booties again because they are comfortable and I can walk in snow in them!  And I am wearing leather shorts with tights because I have already worn my leather pants 3 days in a row!  And I don’t want to wash my hair only to have this wintery weather destroy it, so I am wearing a hat again! And UGH, I DIDN’T PACK ENOUGH FUR AND I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!” All of which that was followed by a few tears and slamming of drawers and mountains of clothes being thrown onto the bed.

(Do you have a good mental picture of this only child, hissy fit happening in your head?! Just ask Shannon Yoachum…she witnessed it all!)

And then…right there….in the middle of my temper tantrum, this outfit was born.

Take that, Nemo.

xo,

lissy - Yeah imagine living in that nonsense. NYC got minimal snow compared to the whopping 2+ feet we got around here. I actually have closets full of clothes but I am so bored of winter dressing. I’m jealous of your warm weather.ReplyCancel

Sarah T. - As a Texan Transplant (not by choice) to the good ol’ Midwest, I totally get it. I’m just not built for the cold weather. Give me heat and humidity any day. However, your outfit is killer! I actually have that Loft blazer and leather shorts so I’m thinking about copying this outfit because you know, it’s still cold here. :-) Counting down the days till spring! #wishicouldconvincemyhubbytomovetotexasReplyCancel
