My Meet & Greet Moment with Mr. Carmen Marc Valvo

Growing up, every child has idols.  For kids who played sports, it might have been Joe Montana, or Troy Aikman, or maybe Michael Phelps.  But for girls who played dress-up in their mother’s closet, their idols would’ve been Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, or Vera Wang.  Dreams of meeting ones’ idol rarely come true.  But for me this year at NYFW, I was able to come face to face with one of mine, Mr. Carmen Marc Valvo.

It might sound cliche, but it really was like a dream…and it all happened so fast.  First, I’m sitting front row for the best 15 minutes of my life while models grace past me…and next thing I know, the show has wrapped and I am waiting backstage in a press line to meet the designer….all while thinking in my head, “OMG, IS THIS REAL LIFE?!)

But when the opportunity arises to shake the hand of someone who’s work inspires you, how on Earth do you introduce yourself? Hi, Mr. Valvo.  I’m Courtney.  I’m a fashion blogger from Dallas and I think you are a total badass and I love your work and I almost just cried tears of joy while sitting front row at your fashion show.

And yes, it went something like that.

Upon my turn to say hello, I handed my iPhone off to my girlfriend Tori, who was my plus one, to capture some photo opps of my 2 minute conversation.  Our chat went by very quickly, and Mr. Valvo and I bonded over our love of Dallas and Neiman Marcus.  He shared with me how chic and put together the women of Dallas are and that our style is exactly what his brand embodies.

He LOVES DALLAS AND NEIMANS?!?!?!

In my mind that practically means we’re besties now.
