Bad hair days are inevitable…..but a chic, bad hair day is the best kindof the best surprise, am I right, or am I right?!

I’ll admit, I DESPISE WASHING MY HAIR, and its become quite the little game I like to play with myself called, “How Many Days Can I Go Without Washing My Hair Before I Begin to Gross Myself Out?” (The record is 6 days, in case you’re wondering.)

But lucky for me, on the 7th day, God created turbans…and this Lulu Frost one came in the mail at the perfect time….on the last dirty hair day! It covered up the dry shampoo, the hair spray residue, and the grease, all while making me seem slightly bohemian chic at the same time….

…and not only do I get to basque in the dirty hair revelation of my new turban, but I have an extra one to share with yall! Enter the Lulu Frost La Boheme Turban Giveaway using the rafflecopter below! Contest runs through this Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 11:59pm CST (and if the rafflecopter doesn’t load just refresh your browser!)

Good luck and ummm, totally sorry for my gross hair stories…but please tell me I’m not the only one?! What’s your secret to keeping your hair fresh for several days?!

Luckily, I Teach Tennis So I Can Just Wear Hats To Cover Up Bad Hair Days :)

  2. Rachelle says:

high and low buns are my way of getting away with a bad hair day.

  3. Irene Wright says:

Every day is a ‘bad hair day’ since I turned grey and decided not to dye my hair anymore – can’t afford it

  4. abby says:

throw it up in a bun for sure

  5. mlgunther says:

dry shampoo and a sockbun. always looks fab and customers/friends never know how bad it really is!

  6. Audra says:

    Such a hip look!

  7. abra hooven says:

I wear a dirty bun when my hair isn’t freshly shampooed

  8. Caitlin says:

I get VERY self consious when I haven’t washed my hair, so this look is the perfect cover!

  9. Sarah says:

Love this look! My way of dealing with awful hair days is a dry shampoo and a French braid plus a hair band or turban.

  10. My hair has been all the way from dark brown to bright blonde, and I have to say with blonde hair I can get away without washing it for a little longer (lucky!). With that said, even all the dry shampoo products can weigh it down after the second (or third..) day without a wash, so I either go for a sleek look with a tight chignon or sock bun or I do a messy low up-do with a slightly teased, piecey effect! Works pretty much every time!

    XOXO,

  11. Smitty says:

Great look and color combinations! I can’t say I agree with you since I’m more of pull-my-hair-back rather than leave it down. It’s so easy to use different products – my favorite is to use any kind of oil because it leaves some kind of shine and makes it look healthier (true fact!). And I’m always trying different ways to make my hair look ‘appealing’ but it’s kinda tough since the headbands I use always manage to fall back down. This one on you – looks gorgs and vibrant! How do you manage to make it stay?

  12. Katy says:

A girl after my own heart! I usually only wash my hair once a week. My record is 9 days sans washing. I need one of the turbans!

  13. Hahaha perfect timing for me to see this post! I’m having a dirty hair day and wearing a very high bun with a turban BUT i really do need another, I think all my friends are sick of my purple, paisley printed one haha

    Naz x

  14. Emily says:

I do the same thing–dry shampoo, top knot, or a quick run through with my curling rod can get me to three or four days with no problem ;) I don’t know if I could pull of the boho thing but I love it on you!

  15. Robin Clark says:

I’m obsessed with Oribe dry texturizing spray too, it’s the best!

  16. Kimber Fisher says:

My best bad hair day secret is simple.. Headband, bouffant and a low bun. Sleek, simple, easy and a little messy. Perfection!

  17. Lauren says:

Dry shampoo + messy bun. It almost looks like it’s messy on purpose. No one has to know! ;)

  18. Maggie says:

I def can go 6 days without washing my hair too (it’s good for your hair anyways… Atleast that’s what my hairstylist says) :) love the turban! Love your blog too :)

  19. Julie says:

    pigtail braids!

  20. Ann Dowdy says:

I love using handkerchiefs to hide my messy hair. These Lulu Frost Turbans are so yummy, and a perfect solution to hiding dirty hair!!!!

  21. Deb says:

Yes! Dry shampoo + high buns are the best bad hair day secrets. Gorg!

  22. Emily says:

Depending on how tangled my curls have gotten I either go with a low bun with a braid along my hairline or I go with a high messy bun with a headwrap. Easy and chic!

  23. Amanda says:

I like to twist or braid pieces that frame my face back into a low/messy bun!

This Lulu Frost turban is EXACTLY what I need for my upcoming honeymoon to the Bahamas!

  24. devin says:

the return of the top bun last year was by far the best thing to ever happen to my bad hair days! I use the Conair squishy sock bun hair piece and just wrap my hair around it, pin it and go! Seriously adore this style and hope it never goes anywhere!

  25. Caitlin says:

Why can’t I own every article of clothing/accessory you have? You’re blog has done bad things to my bank account but I don’t hate it! Can’t wait to win and rock this turban! Also, so excited for the premiere of your new show!

  26. Sophie E. says:

My favorite dry shampoo is Skinny Skinny a New York based brand. It seriously works.

  27. Loving the hair tie!

  28. Mimi says:

    Baseball caps!!!!
Also! Brown hair secret…Amika: Perk up dry shampoo! Smells fab! Really works!!!

  29. Christina says:

Lately I’ve developed a very unhealthy relationship with my dry shampoo :) and a bad hair day on you is totally still a good hair day! Love your look.

  30. Dawn Schailey says:

As I’ve gotten older, my hair rarely looks greasy, so when I have a bad hair day, it is usually just flat, or shapeless. so a pony-tail works for me.

  31. Kelly says:

This look is absolutely gorgeous! I know you think it is not the best but it is the “real” Courtney! I am a huge fan of Jacks and dry shampoo on bad hair days!

    xx
    Kelly
    Sparkles and Shoes

  32. Montana says:

I am all about a braid… and dry shampoo has become my saving grace!

  33. Elise says:

The good thing is that since I’m black, I can go 2 weeks until my hair starts to feel dirty. The only time I was it everyday is when I wear my natural curls, but it dries my hair out. The bun is usually the way to go for me.

  34. Cody says:

    Love it!

  35. Dry shampoo is my savior!!! That and a good top knot. Secret I found, on Pinterest (of course) is to put your hair in a high pony, then tease the hair before you twist it to get the bun. Works every time. :)

  36. Jacki says:

Being a mom in Brooklyn with no ac – you can only imagine the bad hair days. Love love love the turban

  37. Dayna says:

I hate washing my hair too! 3 days a week I’m sporting a high ponytail or a bun.

  38. Amanda says:

    Love this look! So effortless!

  39. I do understand everything about “bad hair” days. I am having one myself today so I decided to wear it up too. I love your top too Courtney, it is amazing, and you look fabulous as usual. Also thanks for sharing this amazing giveaway, and wish me luck ;)

  40. Victoria says:

Love the turban and crochet/lace combo! So boho!

xx Victoria from Haute on the Spot

  41. Abby Ramlo says:

Dry shampoo and a top knot, always!

  42. Asia says:

    Would LOVE to win :)

    Xo

    Asia

  43. Erin says:

    topknot/bun and a colorful headband.

  44. Kayla Didier says:

Low ponytail is my go-to now for my short hair. When I had longer locks it was always up and twisted in a bun. Always use dry shampoo, it’s a life saver!

  45. Tara says:

Definitely feel the “don’t want to wash the hair in the summertime blues” and my go to is BUNS BUNS and more BUNS! I have fine hair so unfortunately I can’t go that long but I love it when it has that little bit of dirtiness. Makes the whole Victoria Secret Bombshell hair so much easier to convey. Now all i need is the secret to having the VC Bombshell body :). Anyone??

  46. Leah Watkins says:

Baby Powder and lots of TEASE!!!

  47. Kalli says:

So cute! The longest I’ve gone is 4 days, which is huge for me since my hair gets greasy pretty quick. I had gotten a blow-out and I don’t know what they did to my hair but it looked fabulous and I managed to stretch it out with a little baby powder and a flat iron.

  48. Suzy says:

Yeah, I’m with you with the washing of the hair. My record is only 4 days though! I usually go every other day on a normal week. But I just love your scarf and want one too!

  49. Kaely says:

Top knots are my new go to for bad hair days… And
I always add some amazing earrings to go with to distract from my hair lol

  50. Kate says:

been looking for a good turbin for weeks now. this one is perfect!!!!!

  51. Heather says:

Love dry shampoo and love the turban!!

  52. Elena Hernandez says:

I can only go 1 or 2 days w/o washing my hair… In between I use a dry shampoo… A must!!! I live the idea of a turbin… I usually wear one with a high, high knot-bun to the lake – summer hair & soooo easy!!

  53. Jackie W says:

I’m all about a lot of tease and a super-sized sock bun!!

Plus– if you don’t want to spend tons of money on dry shampoo, regular baking flour does the EXACT same thing for your hair….

  54. Alexandra says:

My bad hair day secret (unfortunately I am really good at making my hair last like 5-7 days without washing it–its curly and thick) is dry shampoo and and some curlers for volume.

  55. Brenda M. says:

I don’t hate washing my hair – I hate drying my hair. A good blow out is the secret to extending the time between shampoos.

  56. Kate says:

For my messy hair day, I use a 1″-1 1/2″ curling wand to give myself some messy waves & throw on a twist headband (I purchased mine from World Market, but found plenty on Etsy….although I’m still currently dying over the LuLu Frost knot turbans). Check out my take on the headscarves for messy hair on http://reeceblaire.wordpress.com or Instagram: ReeceBlaire

  57. Itopia Mills says:

My fave dirty/bad hair day secret style is simple! A part down the middle with a low bun! It’s my latest hairstyle, it still looks professional (for my internship look) and it takes no more than 5 minutes to do!

  58. My secret is using a baking soda & warm water in a spray bottle & a little bit of purifying shampoo to rid your hair of nasty build up & it makes it so you can go longer without having to wash your hair bonus is you don’t strip your hair of the natural oils it needs! Plus a great dry shampoo

  59. Kelsey says:

Lately I’ve been loving ballerina buns using the cheat bun doughnut. Added bonus its in the 100s where I live these days and it’s so much nicer to get your hair up and out of the way!

  60. Ali says:

I am queen of headscarves and turbans. Not only do they look good with your hair in a bun but if you give your hair some waves on a bad hair day and add a scarf you can totally get away with a messy bohemian look

  61. Brittany Stone says:

I despise washing my hair as well! I typically go about 6 days without a wash! My secret weapon is dry shampoo in the morning and baby powder in the evening! I pour out some baby powder into my hand, rub it together a little and rub it into my roots. I brush it out and then put my hair in a high loose pony tail for the light…wake up with Victoria’s Secret hair!!! Teasing the hair a little also helps when its limp from grease/dirt and needing a wash! I would love that amazing turban, especially for my vacation in St. Thomas in 2 weeks when I plan on NEVER washing the amazing salt water out of my hair! XOXOX <3

  62. Kelly says:

Haha…I thought I was the only one who could not stand washing her hair! I usually go with a low side bun- chic and easy or twisted/braided bangs with a low pony if my bangs are especially gross (beyond dry shampoo repair).

  63. Kate says:

    Tons of dry shampoo!!!

  64. Courtney M. B. says:

I have become a pro of the “how can I not wash my hair as long as possible before its socially unacceptable” game. Day 1 is curl day which will hold for 3 days with no maintenance (chi hairspray-amazing). Day four is a teased pony and day 5 is some variation of a bun. Playing with braids helps when the roots are becoming…unsightly!

  65. Daniela says:

For a bad day I usually braid my hair or wear a cool hat depends on the day

  66. Holly says:

I play the same game–I hate having to shampoo and style my hair. Dry shampoo has been a game changer although I can usually only make it 4, maybe 5 days if I really ignore the ick. My hair is finally long enough for a small top bun so I’ve been doing that, I also like the low messy bun with a headband.

  67. Aimee says:

I am the queen of letting my hair go for as many days as possible w/out washing. I am good at using dry shampoo and headbands. I love this top you have on in this pic and they are out of stock :(. I shop ASOS all the time and I never find all the cute stuff you seem to have.

  68. Corinne says:

Bad hair day secret: MESSY BUN!

  69. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this look!!!

For bad hair days, I use Oscar Blondi Pronto Dry Shampoo! LOVE the smell & it’s not white so I don’t look like a grandma with white powder in my hair :)

  70. Melaney Martin says:

Its hard to believe you ever have a bad hair day! Texas isn’t the best on hair though I usually do some dry shampoo and a messy bun!

  71. Ali S. says:

Love this look! On bad hair days, I use Suave dry shampoo to freshen it up, then use Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo at the roots and tease gently to add major texture and volume. It looks much cuter when I put it up in a high pony or low bun with the added texture.

  72. Brittney says:

My record is 4 days. I have the curse of the cowlick in front and back of my head so days 3 & 4 are usually a high bun or a high pony. Love dry shampoo for day 2. I switch between Bumble & Bumble hair powder (when I’m ballin) or Not Your Mothers and Suave (when I’m ballin on a budget). Love them all! I think I could extend my streak if I’d grow some lady balls and cut my hair off again. Love this turban look for my buns & ponies though :)

  73. Sarah P says:

Ugh, I wish I could get past 2 days. I can hardly go a day and a half.

  74. Patti says:

My best bad hair day secret is to wear a sock bun. Easy peasy! Put it up, takes about 5 minutes and always looks cute. Even if it comes out messy! A messy bun is cute too!

  75. YvetteD says:

Seriously?!! 6 days?? ewww !! Keeping it real here. I have to wash almost everyday. If I get 2 days I am ecstatic! Only a few
times have I gone 3 days and that is with lots of product on board. I have dark hair and don’t use much product, really none at all and it gets oily! I guess cuz I wear it straight and close to my scalp…. oh well, I will admit a tiny part of me is jealous…until like day 3 or 4… past that I’m just grossed out. : /

  76. Alicia Thomas says:

I throw my hair in a ponytail and wear a headband and head to work on bad hairdays!

  77. Sarah says:

Dry shampoo and some hair powder usually do the trick for me!

  78. Lauren says:

Messy buns, a little dry shampoo, and a cute bow = the perfect way to make the best of a bad hair day

    Love that turban, so cute!

  79. Tiffany Elam says:

A curling wand & agran oil are life savers!

    xo,
    Tiffany

  80. LOVE this outfit! It’s got such different proportions from what you normally wear, or anybody for that matter. The shorts are so cute. On my bad hair days I always use a dry shampoo then do a ton of extra teasing…the flat body-less aspect of dirty hair is always what gives it away for me!
    xxx
    Cassie

  81. Erin says:

My way of dealing with a bad hair day is dry shampoo, hair spray and hot rollers. This turban would help even more!

  82. Tara says:

I absolutely hate washing/doing my hair.. I get by with baby powder and top knots. I think I’m at 5 days, but maybe I’ll try for 6 now.. ;)

  83. Natalie says:

    love it!

  84. Greta H. says:

Turbans are a veryy cute way to quickly style your hair!

  85. Merideth says:

Dry shampoo and a deep side part

  86. Karen says:

Turban of course… especially love the lulu frost ones ;)

  87. Jayme says:

Headbands, headbands, headbands! I have them in all shapes and sizes, from steals to splurges. They are probably my most style defining accessory and the bolder, the better!

  88. AccessoryLUVR says:

No you are not the only one that despises to wash your hair and goes days without washing, I do too. I used to wash my hair every day (when I was in my 20’s and had more energy) and it always looked dull and I could never figure out why. Now I only wash it every 4-5 days and it is much healthier. In between washes I refresh my hair with Chaz Dean’s refreshing mist. It smells like mint and works like a dream. Worse case scenerio, I get out the head band. Love this new idea of the turban! Gotta have one.

  89. Dawn Frisch says:

    Hi Courtney,
You are so beautiful! I just love seeing what you wear during the week. No, you’re not the only one who dislikes washing her hair. In emergencies, I use a little bit of baby powder on my hair. You have to be careful not to use too much or your hair will look too dry looking and dull. A little goes a long way.

    Have a great day!
    Dawn
P.S. Fancy is cute for the dog’s name by the way.

  90. Heather L. says:

I wet the front and sides and pull it up to the top of my head, then twist it into a high ballerina bun. Slick stray hair down and hairspray.

  91. Heather L. says:

I wet the front and sides and pull it up to the top of my head, then twist it into a high ballerina bun. Slick stray hair down and hairspray. So slick and pretty!

  92. Samantha says:

Definitely into a bun. It’s easy and looks decent sometimes. (for me anyway :P)

  93. Lauren c says:

Dry shampoo, bun or low pony tail and a headband of some sort hides the dirtiest of hair.

  94. Tessa says:

    Love the shirt!

  95. Emily says:

A swim in the Gulf of Mexico! My hair is always amazing when we’re on the coast and stays great for days! Dry shampoo when not on the beach :)

  96. Lorilee says:

Not quite a turban, doll! :)

  97. Holly says:

    great giveaway! love your blog!

  98. lauren says:

On bad hair days, I always just do a high messy ballerina bun!

  99. Carli says:

So happy to know I am not the only one who hates washing their hair. Four days is about the longest I can go. Fingers crossed for this adorable Lulu Frost turban to be mine!

  100. Erika says:

I definitely sport the dry shampoo and throw a headband over! Covers many sins! ;)

  101. Katie Green says:

A little dry shampoo and teasing can make a dirty hair updo perfection!!! I would love to win this to add a nice touch I my dirty hair pony!

  102. Lydia L says:

I totally do the same thing! I have really curly hair and it takes me about an hour and a half to straighten it….so basically the thought of wetting it after all that work terrifies me and I draw out washing my hair as long as possible. Turbans rule!

  103. Joy says:

With hats and fedoras kind of becoming more prominent, I definitely throw on one to make a bad hair day good. Also I’ll go with a low pony if I’m trying to be more understand. And usually a cute headband that adds a little something always helps…especially when I want my bad poofy hair to be good and tamer!

  104. Justine says:

It’s all about the top knot on bad hair days…throw a little dry shampoo and grab my sock bun and we’re good to go! Xoxo Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!

    Justine

  105. Hello,

Started following your blog after I found it via another blog and remembered how awesome you were on Most Eligible Dallas! Turns out I ended up moving to Dallas so you have helped me figure out how to make the transition from NYC to Dallas! Love this look and I wish the shirt was not out of stock at ASOS because I love it and really want to have it!

    With joy,

  106. Lindsay says:

Tons of dry shampoo and a messy bun!! 6 days!!?? I wish! I can go 1 day max. :( Anymore than that, you’ll probably find me sick in bed.

  107. Camille Russo says:

So glad I’m not the only one who hates washing their hair! My record is 6 days as well, Courtney! Thanks for sharing such a cute idea to cover up those gross hair days. I usually throw my hair up in a messy bun. It’s actually become my signature!

  108. Robin says:

3 days is the longest I can go. No secrets here, just a gross ponytail when it’s dirty.

  109. I wish I could make it six days without washing my hair! I can usually only make it two or three if I have a sudden burst of will power. I seem to have a really oily scalp and I have short hair, so when I don’t wash it I just feel like I’m greasy all the way to my ends. For my hair’s sake I should probably try to toughen up a bit. I’m sure a cute turban would help to cover up the grease!

  110. Brie says:

Ha, I’m not the only one who goes a week without washing my hair, my hubby thinks it’s so gross, but at least now I’ve got company! Loving this turban style for summer.

  111. Michelle Marlin says:

I swear by bumble&bumble styling cream and a bun!

  112. Darnel says:

A week is average between washes and by day 4 or 5 I am definitely looking for an alternative hairstyle…usually a slick pony, high bun! I like the combination of the high bun and the turban…hmmm, may try this one this week! Love your style and your blog! Texas girls putting southern style on the map and I LOVE IT!

    http://www.declarationsconsulting.blogspot.com

  113. Allison Critchlow says:

Love the look! I haven’t been able to go more than a day without washing my hair. It’s purely a mental thing. I keep telling myself to not wash my hair everyday. Maybe this week I will be able to go 2 days! I know my hair would appreciate it :)

  114. Zoe says:

May I ask, is your bauble bar necklace the small (1″) or medium (1.25″) charm? Thanks so much.

  115. Aston Daniels says:

Dry shampoo and a messy bun.

  116. Kelsey says:

I’m all about braids, dry shampoo and headbands for bad hair days :)

  117. Erica says:

Perfectly imperfect hair:) If I’m out of dry shampoo, I reach for the baby powder and tease away. A hair accessory just like this one is a must have!

  118. Catherine says:

dry shampoo and bobby pens are my dirty hair saver!

  119. Brandy says:

Love this look! I push my bangs to the side and pill my hair up, if I skip a wash.

  120. Julie Elizabeth says:

dry shampoo and sea salt products

  121. Pj says:

I wash my hair everyday. But I love the look, and I think one can still pull it off with hair rinsed and dried! :)
P.S. love the top by ASOS. I can see myself wearing it as cover up at the beach. (Heart)

  122. Meredith says:

This is literally the most delayed comment, but what color did you order your monogram baublebar necklace in?
