Ready or not, here the cold weather comes….
…..And I DO NOT DO COLD WEATHER VERY WELL.
Yes, I get to wear leather every damn day. Yes, I have the option of wearing fur. Yes, I can rock a beanie or a wool fedora. And yes, I can justify not shaving my legs a couple of extra days because, well quite frankly, no one sees them.
So, there are a couple of pros….But ultimately, when the temperatures drop, all I want to do is keep on some cashmere sweatpants, bundle up with my puppy, watch old movies, and eat some homemade chili or sip on hot cider.
Therefore, when you absolutely must get dressed an head out into the cold, its nice to have some go-to pieces in the closet arsenal that will A) keep you warm, and B) still look incredibly chic.
- The Sweater Dress: I scooped up this one from The Dreslyn and in the 3 weeks I have had it, its already on heavy rotation. A dress like this is perfect paired with leggings, tossed over some skinny jeans, or even how I styled it, back to a tall boot and a bare leg. Dresses this comfy are also perfect for piddling around the house….think: fireplace and red wine
- The Over-the-Knee Boot: Some might say that a boot like this will make you look like a hooker….and granted, if they had a 4-inch heel, I might suggest they are channeling a bit of Julia Roberts circa Pretty Woman, but a flat riding boot is chic, chic, chic. Undoubtedly, I will probably wear mine so much that they will be re-soled before the season is up.
- A Go-To Winter Hat: Winter hair can be a beating….top off your mane with a wool fedora or a beanie. I love both (see here and here), and if an additional day can slide by without a hair washing, well, I’m a happy girl.
What are your secrets for keeping chic as the temperature drops?
