2013 has arrived.
And when it comes to thinking about the new year, its hard not to think about the past one, as well. 2012 was MAGICAL for me…I call it my “year of yes”….I said yes to anything and was willing to go out on a limb and trust my heart…I left 10 year retail job to become a full-time blogger, I got my own spinoff on Bravo (still can’t believe it and OMG’ing everyday!), I moved into a big girl apartment, I made new friends and got rid of the exhausting ones, I managed to stay single and worked on being the best version of myself, and I traveled….ALOT.
One of my favorite places that I visited this past year (9 times, to be exact!) was New York City. Some trips I was there for a total of 24 hours, while other trips I stayed for 13 days (NYFW, duh!). But everytime I set foot in the Big Apple…I was overwhelmed with the same emotion…the energy, the street style, and the bright lights…its almost too much to take in at once and I get the this giddy feeling from head to toe. And that feeling has led me to admit something that I am slightly ashamed of, “Dallas, while you will always be my one and only true love, I might be having a small affair with NYC.”
But Dallas, don’t overthink it…you are the most charming city in the world. You hold the key to my heart, have some of the best restaurants in the country, house plenty of beautiful and poised people, and have the most adorably irritating, yet unpredicatable weather. I mean, in a city that birthed the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and Neiman Marcus….what’t not to love?!
And that leads me to my biggest upcoming thrill for 2013: the premiere of Courtney Loves Dallas on Bravo! Saying it out loud is still wild to me. There are so many emotions that bubble up when I think about this new journey….excitement, anxiety, laughter…the list goes on and on. But what I keep trying to remind myself is that every year has led me to this exhilarating moment…the tough year in 2010, the last year of my 20’s in 2011, and the year of yes in 2012…the combination of all those experiences have prepared me for the wild ride of 2013.
So, with that said….
Let’s Do This, 2013.
